castAway came to us with a simple goal: create a dual-screen mobile experience compatible with any smartphone.We explored multiple form iterations that would securely mount castAway’s magnetic hinge onto a smartphone, allowing the user to attach castAway’s second screen and other accessories.

In this rapid-ideation exercise, we put all our thoughts down on paper as we explored different ways to execute CastAway’s magnetic hinge system. The goal was to move quickly into the 3D phase to generate exciting imagery helped conceptualize future products for CastAway.
In this rapid-ideation exercise, we put all our thoughts down on paper as we explored different ways to execute CastAway’s magnetic hinge system. The goal was to move quickly into the 3D phase to generate exciting imagery helped conceptualize future products for CastAway.
We selected the most promising sketches and built them in CAD to visualize the concepts. The use of 3D renderings allows us to provide castAway with realistic proportions, branding details, and color and finish options.
The result was multiple eye-catching concepts which helped castAway take their brand further. All concepts feature aluminum clip systems create a universal connection, bringing a second screen to any smartphone.
