Clarix had worked out a completely new technology to analyze surgically removed cancer tissues: true, 3D scans. The tech was revolutionary, but the alpha prototype was clunky. They called on CHOI Design Group to give form to the base technology, resulting in a design that is compact, intuitive, and unlike anything else seen in operating rooms.
Product: X-Ray machine
Services: Industrial Design, Design Research

Starting from the ground up, we created a user journey map, helping us ask the right questions in the project’s early stages, and identify key user interactions. Then we began assembling the components in 3D to define the unit’s dimensions and ergonomics before refining aesthetics.

Specimens are loaded into the machine through an innovative top sliding door, and lowered into the chamber automatically, making it easy to get accurate 3D images of removed tissue in the operating room right away.

The unit is turned on with a single button and controlled entirely by a touchscreen user interface for easy cleaning and minimal parts.
